ABOUT MNANP
Members of the MnANP hold Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degrees from four-year graduate-level naturopathic medicine programs accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME), the U.S. Department of Education recognized national accrediting body for graduate-level naturopathic medical programs and postdoctoral programs in naturopathic medicine, including residencies in naturopathic family practice and other specialty areas. Graduates of an accredited naturopathic medicine program are eligible for licensure as naturopathic physicians in 14 states, Washington D.C. and in the territories of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Currently, the State of Minnesota has no licensure program available for naturopathic physicians. Graduates from a CNME naturopathic medicine program practice in Minnesota under the Complementary and Alternative Health Care Practices Statute 146A under which they are restricted from diagnosing diseases and treating patients to the full extent of their training. For more information on naturopathic medicine and naturopathic physicians please visit the websites of the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME) at cnme.us , the US Department of Education national accrediting agencies and the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) at naturopathic.org
The Minnesota Association of Naturopathic Physicians was founded as a professional organization for graduate-level trained naturopaths. Today the organization, also known by the acronym MnANP, has grown to over fifteen members and has become the unifying body for graduate-level trained naturopaths in Minnesota. The MnANP holds regular meetings, elects officers, and maintains an operating budget. In addition to being a professional organization, the MnANP is a leading advocate for consumers of natural health care. Naturopathic physicians are trained at one of four U.S. schools of naturopathic medicine. The programs are designed to train students as primary care naturopathic physicians. For more information on the education and training of naturopathic physicians, please visit the website of the CNME, AANP, Bastyr University, National College of Naturopathic Medicine, Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, or Bridgeport University.
